beaded headband pattern

materials: size 10 cotton crochet thread, 60 small beads that can move freely on the thread, beading needle, D/3-3.25mm hook
gauge: not really important for this project
notes: the beads are strung on the yarn prior to beginning the project. to achieve the diagonal effect, increases are made all along one side of the headband and decreases are made on the other.
special stitches: bead dc - yo, insert hook in next st, yo, draw yarn through st, slide a bead up close to the three loops left on the hook, yo (from the far side of the bead), draw yarn through two of the loops. this holds the bead in place on the wrong side of the crocheted piece. complete the dc as usual.

string 60 beads onto your crochet thread and push them away from your working thread.
ch 19

row 1 (ws): dc2tog in 4th and 5th chs from hook (dec made). dc in next 12 chs. 2 dc in next ch (inc made). dc in last ch. ch 3, turn. 17 sts (counting dc2tog as 2 sts)

row 2 (rs): 2 dc in next st (inc made). dc in next 12 sts. dc2tog in next 2 sts (dec made). dc in turning ch of last row. ch 3, turn. 17 sts (counting dc2tog as 2 sts)

rows 3-26: repeat rows 1 and 2.

beaded row (row 27)(ws): dc2tog in first 2 sts (dec made). 2 dc in next 2 sts. next 7 sts - bead dc, dc, bead dc, dc, bead dc, dc, bead dc. dc in next 2 sts. 2 dc in next st (inc made). dc in last st. 17 dc (counting dc2tog as 2 sts)

row 28 (rs): same as row 2.

rows 29-56: repeat rows 27 and 28.

rows 57-81: repeat rows 1 and 2.

fasten off. weave in ends.
